Neues der Goabase

This year, the weather forecast for each event and the display of the moon phases (in the "Worldtimes") were added for all to see. There is more at Neues der Goabase.

Less visible is the fact that images are now also available in avif format, which promises even faster loading times. A conversion script for flyer graphics, profile and gallery images etc. has been running for five days (so far). Over 750,000 files have been converted. Party photos are still missing, which would probably require 12 days of script runtime.

In the member area, the party timer can only list the hidden/private parties. The party newsletter was sent out weekly again from September (instead of every fortnight). There are now overview pages for forum pictures and your own PM graphics. In the forum you can now make posts of certain members invisible to you (instead of ignoring the person completely).

These were most of the changes.

In the middle of the year we had to move the server to another machine, which went smoothly after a few weeks of preparation. At the beginning it was still bumpy (see Neues der Goabase), but now it's running smoothly - which was made possible by the avif conversion.

The code is constantly being updated "under the bonnet" ("refactoring"). Many old development concepts are being replaced by new and better ones. The result is better performance, more security, minor corrections - and occasionally new small bugs that can be fixed quickly.
